Looking at the horse's eye again today using pure graphite and an eraser. Blending and smudging to create a 'ground', then working back into the drawing with the darks. The eraser is fabulous for highlights.

I'm quite enjoying focussing on certain areas of the face and giving slight hints of the rest of it. By doing this it teaches me that I don't always have to aim for  finished, pristine pieces of work all of the time in order to express what I'm trying to convey.
